Goldbeck's Secrets to Getting Your Resume Noticed

Get To The Point Quickly: Employers have to sift through hundreds of resumes and you have 2 seconds to grab their attention. One of the easiest things to do is to use bullet points; avoid writing long paragraphs that are dense. Try to stay away from writing every article you were published in, including community newspapers.

Advertising Your Resume: This is crucial to getting your resume noticed by a large volume of employers. Many employers use online tools like Monster, Workopolis and, Career Builder to search for resumes. Post your resume on these job boards.

Optimizing Your Resume for Job Boards: Recruiters use keywords to search for resumes. Keywords are usually based on the title and the industry of the position. Employers tend to scan through resumes by titles of resumes and position titles, be as descriptive as possible. For example, instead of posting ?sales representative? try using ?Industrial Territory Sales Representative?.

Start Networking: Start using social networks like the HR hub of recruitment, LinkedIn Add keywords in your profile to increase your probability in showing up in a search. Many job seekers also use Facebook as job hunting tool but, be wary of posting any lewd party pictures up. Employers are using Facebook to keep tabs on their staff.

Update your Contact Info: Many times people forget to include or update their contact information. Without updated information, employers will not be able to contact you to discuss job opportunities.
