In a globe spanning industrial placement contract, we were contacted by an Italian manufacturer working in China who needed a new head engineer. They had embarked on a new program to expand in to developing an aircraft engine, and needed a new Head of Development to lead the charge.
The company had recently purchased 49% of Harbour Air here in the Lower Mainland to learn the seaplane passenger business. When they contacted us, we were directed to find a range of engineers with experience in light aircraft engines. Targeting businesses like Rotax in Austria, and throughout key European markets, we enlisted one of our internal recruiters to take the lead. Working closely with our European recruitment partners, we built a short list and eventually submitted two candidates for offers. Of the Austrian and German candidates, the first one didn’t work out, but the second accepted the job and went off on their new adventure to China.
