Our Tsawwassen based client is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team. The key experience that they require is accounting experience in the property management industry. Exciting role to be at the corporate head office of a company that is engaged in acquisitions and dispositions. The Accounting Manager will supervise two staff and needs to be willing to roll up sleeves and support the team as needed.
Our client does not require a CPA but wants proven experience in property management. Hybrid options after probation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting department (1-2 staff) for 6 limited partnerships, 1 joint venture, 3 investment companies, 4 management companies, and several bare trusts.
- Work with the accountant to complete monthly financial statements.
- Manage budget process.
- Prepare year-end statements including working with external accountants.
- Cash management: including approving cheque runs, reducing expenses, and timely cash receipts.
- Financial analysis; including regular cash flow projections.
- Prepare quarterly reporting to investors.
- Review and ensure timely GST, and WCB reporting/remitting.
- Improve accounting department efficiencies and controls.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of real estate accounting experience.
- 2-3 years of management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Excel.
- Yardi Voyager and QuickBooks preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle multiple demands and be flexible with duties.
- High attention to detail and organization skills.
- Experience in a small office preferred.
