Our client is a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals. We are looking for a Business Manager to join their team with responsibility for all commercial and manufacturing results at their manufacturing facility in Northern BC. He or she will have full P+L responsibility and manage operations, sales, and strategic planning.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Full P+L responsibility
  • Manages the overall business, including operations, sales, financial reporting and communication with executive management
  • Creates and executes the plant’s overall business strategy to increase profitability, setting growth targets and developing plans to achieve success
  • Drives profitability through identifying and fulfilling unique commercial needs
  • Leads and mentors a team of direct and indirect reports
  • Identifies areas for potential growth, including cross-selling opportunities
  • Champions the company’s product, ensuring the organization is strategically placed within the marketplace
  • Creates a culture of high performance, developing KPIs and metrics to measure success
  • Maintains internal standards as well as regulatory requirements and acts as a key contact with regulatory agencies
  • Works with the operations team to develop process improvements to increase productivity and efficiencies

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience working in a manufacturing environment – ideally within the chemical manufacturing
  • Chemistry or chemical engineering background is a major asset but not required – other scientific education may be considered
  • At least 10+ years of experience at the senior management level, preferably as a General Manager or Director level position
  • Strong operational background and experience with lean manufacturing and process improvement
  • Strong sales and distribution experience
  • Experience developing high-level sales strategies to increase profits and generate new business opportunities
  • Progressive leadership skills and high emotional IQ
  • Strong financial background and the ability to communicate results using tools such as EBITDA
  • Ability to organize effectively and delegate responsibility, including problem-solving and clear communication
  • Experience working at an international level or across a large geographic area
