Our client is a charitable, faith-based organization that provides social care in communities across BC to those living with disabilities. They serve approximately 1000 people with 435 staff members. They are seeking a creative, knowledgeable Senior Human Resources Manager with HR management experience to inspire and lead people and culture within the organization. The Senior Human Resources Manager serves as an integral part of the executive leadership team. Leading and supporting the development of their most important asset – the people who work in the organization.
Responsibilities include executive oversight of the HR department, developing and maintaining accredited HR best practices, ensuring a safe and welcoming working environment for all staff, and creatively promoting wellness and training supports. You will provide guidance to managers and supervisors in both union and non-union settings and work collaboratively with the larger leadership team to promote and advance the mission, values, and strategic direction of the organization. You will work collaboratively to deploy a brand new strategic direction where ‘people and culture’ is one of the three strategic goals. You have opportunities to shape, develop and support new wellness initiatives, a restorative practices hub, and revitalized recruitment and retention strategies.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee staff recruitment, including volunteers and HR Manager of Recruitment
· Staff Work Performance, ensuring performance standards are maintained and advancement of performance review processes
· Guidance to leadership team and managers regarding staff discipline and performance issues and direct involvement as needed
· Oversee investigations and terminations processes
· Staff training, in conjunction with the leadership team, develop and provide an overall training framework for the organization
· Oversee HR Manager of Retention and provide leadership to staff retention initiative
· Participates with CEO in Staff Forum meetings and supports open communication strategies
· Develop and implement Restorative Practices Hub that will support positive conflict outcomes
· Responsible for the interpretation of labor laws/regulations such as Employment Standards, Worksafe BC, Human Rights, and Collective Agreements
· Negotiates return to work processes for extraordinary WSCB or Medical Leaves of Absence
· Oversees Wellness Coordinator and supports wellness initiatives
· Acts as Champion of organizational wellness initiatives
· Serves as organizations representative with regard to union issues
· Responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, programs and procedures in accordance with COA accreditation standards
· Develop compensation levels and job categories for staff
· Risk Management
· Participates in decisions regarding the allocation of funds outside of program budgets
· With the Board and Executive Team develop vision, strategy, and director for the organization
· Implement strategic direction and support, promote and enhances the culture
· Support a culture of quality and participate in addressing quality impact initiatives, including qualitative interviewing processes
· Responsible to develop and implementing privacy policy as legislated
Qualifications:
· A degree in Human Resources or a related field (Masters level preferred) or CPHR
· 5 plus years of senior HR experience with a demonstrated ability to serve at an executive level
· Excellent mediation and conflict management skills
· Experience with the restorative practices approach is an asset
· Proven high-caliber oral and written communication skills
· Demonstrated emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
· Proven ability to lead and develop staff and teams
· Exceptional organizational skills

· Flexibility in working hours: participation at meetings, and events may involve meeting work
