Our client is the corporate head office of a well-established construction company.  Reporting to the VP Finance you will oversee a large accounting team handling the day-to-day accounting and support the VP with special projects.

Ideal candidate will have accounting experience a multi-province company as this company has projects across Canada.  Will consider Managers coming out of Big Four firm or Senior Accountants with Big Four and some industry experience.  If you enjoy leading and mentoring a team this is the role for you.


  • Assist with developing financial frameworks and models for value calculation, forecasting, tracking activities, and reporting
  • Support company’s leadership team with the financial (cost vs benefit) assessment of projects, initiatives, focus on improvements to value, and development of business cases
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of value associated with performance metrics and operating measures
  • Review and report on portfolio performance and provide actionable items to REMCAN’s leadership team
  • Build and strengthen relationships across all operating functions and work proactively and effectively with business unit leaders
  • As part of the Finance team coordinate month end tasks, strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Provide operating results and variance analysis to Finance and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Partner with stakeholders to track and analyze key performance metrics.
  • Identify, develop, and propose process improvements.
  • Complete month-end close tasks for one or more business units within the company.
  • Provide detailed analysis of revenues and margins and spending variances.
  • Provide analysis to assist in cost reduction efforts.
  • Learn the business systems and serve as liaison for the organization from an accounting and analytical perspective.
  • Provide monthly and semi-annual forecasts and explain related variances to business leaders.
  • Enhance the Organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of the company.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
  • Documentation of accounting processes specific to applicable business units. Documentation of business processes that are within the scope of the position.


  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum five years of relevant financial analysis experience preferably in construction
  • Hands-on experience in financial analysis and financial planning
  • Ability to implement and execute on process changes
  • Experience in defining and articulating key business drivers and finding effective solutions in order to achieve core business unit goals and objectives
