Under the direction of the Controller, the Corporate Accountant ensures the efficient operation of the general accounting functions for all activities associated with the General Ledger, and financial statements ensuring compliance with regulations, laws, and policies.  The incumbent produces monthly financial accounts and management reports and is responsible to ensure that all financial transactions are properly and accurately recorded in the financial system and oversees the integrity of interfaces from other departmental systems such as payroll.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes data for the purpose of supporting business decision-making
  • Prepares weekly consolidated cash balance reports
  • Prepares journal entries for day-to-day transactions as well as transactions involving multiple foreign currencies
  • Prepares budgets and monitors expenditures
  • Completes monthly duties related to the month end accounting process
  • Engages in the analysis of finances to determine risks and create financial forecasts
  • Manages the month end accounting process
  • Prepares monthly financial accounts for the corporate entities
  • Prepares the group’s consolidated monthly management reports
  • Consolidates corporate and divisional budgets and forecasts
  • Manages the monthly variance analysis
  • Ensures all accounts are reconciled accurately
  • Ensures all tax records are correct and up to date
  • Maintains and updates fixed asset records.
  • Liaises with the external Auditors
  • Prepares and lodges monthly or quarterly GST filings
  • Helps to review company’s balance sheet, bank reconciliation and other major accounts, such as inventories, stocks, taxes, accruals, and pre-payments
  • Engages in the projection of the company’s working capital and the cash flow statement
  • Helps to conduct training for new and existing staff in related departments
  • Introduces and develops new procedures to improve the accounting process
  • Helps to improve departmental workflow identifying more efficient work methods and procedures reflective of best practices
  • Undertakes any other duties or projects as directed by the organization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • At least five years of accounting experience, two of which as a corporate accountant.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of financial accounting and consolidated reporting in line with international best practices
  • Possess detailed understanding of financial and operational controls
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting software packages, such as Quickbooks, Xero, Freshbooks and Sage.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, handle multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Display exemplary ethical behavior when working with confidential financial documents.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with staff members.
  • Ability to work autonomously to solve problems and verbalise solutions, presenting financial results with ease
