Our client offers a comprehensive suite of geotechnical, structural, and geospatial monitoring and data delivery solutions that are being used in leading projects around the world.   Their monitoring technology can measure areas of interest at scale, from high-production mine sites to entire networks, such as railways, highways, and pipelines with a combination of geospatial, ground-based, and structural-based instrumentation. Their platform is also used to measure movement in airports, bridges, water dams, tailings dams, mines, and tunnels.  They are looking for a Cost Accountant to perform duties related to product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory/WIP valuation.  The focus of the position will be related to cleaning up the inventory item master and Bills of Materials (BOM’s) and developing policies and process to maintain cost accuracy.  This role will work under the supervision and guidance of the Financial Analyst and the CFO.

Responsibilities:

  • Review BOM’s for accuracy, work with stakeholders to update items and routers, and roll costs where necessary.
  • Review item master setup and item costs for accuracy and update / clean up as needed.
  • Develop and prepare month-end analyses related to product costing.
  • Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods valuation.
  • Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP data through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control, production, manufacturing engineering and engineering design.
  • Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
  • Assist with developing new product introduction (NPI) process as it relates to ERP item master and costing requirements.
  • Assist in process mapping and documenting the creation and maintenance of raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods with the goal of streamlining the process.
  • Develop methodology for calculating labor and overhead rates that can be easily updated based on changing cost structure.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Cost Accountant or similar role, preferably in an electronics manufacturing environment (2+ years of accounting/cost accounting experience)
  • Familiarity with Standard Costing a must.
  • CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be comfortable in a fast paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Organized, self-driven, reliable, and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Passion for finding solutions to problems is a must.
  • Experience with multi-currency environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel a must, experience with other analytics techniques (SQL, Power BI) an asset
  • Hands-on ERP experience a must.
  • The ability to dig in and learn systems quickly.
