Our client is an environmental products and services company operating in an established and growing sector. They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Business Development to lead their sales efforts targeting industrial and municipal companies.
The Director will be responsible for managing a small business development team, developing and implementing a sales strategy, and driving revenue growth in the environmental sector.
The new hire will be based anywhere in Vancouver/Lower Mainland and will be expected to be at the office once a week (or more, if desired).
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute the overall business development strategy aligned with company’s goals and objectives.
- Identify market trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decision-making.
- Team leadership:
- Train, mentor and manage a small business development team, comprised of experienced individuals with significant sector expertise
- Set clear performance expectations and KPIs for the BD team, and work with the team members to meet these goals
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to maximize the team’s sales effectiveness
- Foster and collaborative and motivating team culture
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Along with the relevant BD team member, build and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the industrial and municipal sectors.
- Understand client needs, industry trends, and regulatory requirements to tailor solutions.
- Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
- Business Development:
- Along with the relevant BD team member, identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the client base.
- Develop and nurture leads, negotiate contracts, and close deals to achieve revenue targets.
- Present our environmental products and services effectively to potential clients.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate regular reports on sales performance, pipeline, and revenue forecasts.
- Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with the operations department in order to ensure smooth product and delivery and for the development of new company offerings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Environmental Science, or related field. MBA is a plus.
- Proven experience in business development, preferably in the environmental or sustainability sector.
- Demonstrated success in securing new business and achieving revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of environmental technologies, waste management, and related industries an asset.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends and competitor activities.
