Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Langley is adding a Director of Finance to their Canadian operations. This person will be a key support to the VP with local decisions and handling detailed reporting up to corporate. The company is in a high growth mode and will offer challenges to the new Director. The company President is data-centric and is looking for someone with a keen sense of numbers and information. A team of 10, including a Controller, will report up to the Director.

 

Responsibilities:
• Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking
• Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support
• Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews
• Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements
• Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
• Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
• Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization
• Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials
• Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards
• Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools
• Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and valuation comps
• Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models
• Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends
• Create recommendations to be presented to management and executives
• Develop financial models to support valuation, planning, and forecasting
• Aid in the capital budgeting and expenditure planning processes
• Reconcile existing transactions through cross-referencing of incoming and outgoing data
• Conduct comparable analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of financial instruments, market conditions, and trends
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and financial reporting package for executive team
• Support CFO and President in various ad hoc financial requests
• Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends
• Create recommendations to be presented to management and executives
• Develop financial models to support valuation, planning, and forecasting
• Aid in the capital budgeting and expenditure planning processes
• Reconcile existing transactions through cross-referencing of incoming and outgoing data
• Conduct comparable analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of financial instruments, market conditions, and trends

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
• 5-7+ years of business finance or other relevant experience
• High proficiency in financial modeling techniques
• Proficiency with Hyperion, Oracle and Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience in B2B and B2C sales environments strongly desired
• Proven work experience in a quantitatively heavy role
• Good business acumen
• Strong ability to do tactical reporting, data mining, and critical analysis
• Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
• Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Business Intelligence Power User (Creation of Custom Reporting, Dashboards, and Analytics)
• Ability to utilize complex business management or ERP/MRP systems (VM, SAP Oracle Preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
