Our client is a dynamic, growing values-based organization.  Current opening is due to retirement.  We are looking for a key person to work with the executive team as the business continues to grow through increased projects, partnerships, and acquisitions.  Offices in Campbell River, Prince George, Kitimat to name a few.  May require some travel but fine to hire someone within BC who works remotely.

The Director of Finance will have oversight of the accounting team – Controller, HR Manager, Payroll, AP, Purchasing, Credit, and a Finance clerk.


  • Develop and monitor objectives for the finance department in coordination with the company goals.
  • Manage and control the organizations financial processes, making the necessary changes to enhance and improve processes, policies, or procedures.
  • Participate in negotiations for mergers, acquisitions, and the establishment of new divisions within the company.
  • Overseeing the development of accounting systems for the company’s evolving corporate structure considering Joint Venture Agreements, Community Partnerships and First Nation partnerships.
  • Determine realistic goals and establish financial controls to maintain maximum profitability.
  • Manage and oversee the funding for all capital building projects for the company.
  • Recommending reporting improvements for the company’s financial information
  • Participate in, developing company strategies with senior management and the board, identifying new funding opportunities, and the development of the company/department budgets.
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, identify areas of cost reduction and process enhancement
  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the company including company revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, development activities, and monitoring of organizational and cash flows budgets.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and retention of skilled accounting and finance staff
  • Appoint managers and team leaders within the finance department.
  • Oversee all finance personnel (controller, finance clerk, credit, and collection clerk, purchasing, account payable, etc.)
  • Oversee Human Resources function, coordinating with external service providers (payroll, benefits, and general Human Resources) and internal staff responsible for various aspects of Human Resources.


  • CPA Designation in good standing
  • Minimum 10-plus years of relevant experience and a minimum of 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Demonstrated business acumen and decisiveness
  • High level of competency in the following areas: business insight, management, communication, relationship building/management, influencing and teamwork
  • Experience managing a geographically diverse organization
  • Information technology and/or telecommunications experience preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial, and local requirements regarding financial records, pension, sales taxes, and the like is essential.
