Our client has over 135+ years combined experience in manufacturing and they have been able to develop new innovative, industry leading products that meet the ever-growing need of their diverse client base. They are looking for an Equipment Designer/Modeler who will report to the Engineering Manager, the Designer/Modeler is responsible for assisting and coordinating various new design initiatives and design for manufacturing projects
Responsibilities:
· Participate in team design and brainstorming sessions
· Develop novel design concepts for custom trailers and related equipment
· Designs/Models detail parts and assemblies using SolidWorks software
· Prepare and reviews engineering drawings
· Prepare and review complete purchasing and shop packages
· Research materials and manufacturing methods
· Documentation of engineering, testing procedures, results, and analyses
· Identify manufacturing process improvements, including cost benefit analysis to justify expenses
· Manage changes to the various manufacturing designs related to planned improvements
· Work with shop floor personnel to determine best practices and procedures
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
· Establish standardization practices within operations
· Complete all applicable quality records
· Support BOM creation and maintenance in the ERP system
Qualifications:
· Mechanical or Design Engineering Degree or Certified Engineering Technologist
· 3-5 years experience
· Familiarity with manufacturing/trucking industry an asset
· Ability to communicate both verbal & written in the English language
· A proven track record designing in Solid Works
· Working knowledge of ERP software packages an asset
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite
· Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
· Exceptional organizational abilities
· Able to contribute openly and effectively during team meetings
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
