Our client is an innovative data and analytics organization offering a variety of services/technologies related to satellite processing, data services, machine learning, and similar fields.

They are currently looking for a Head of Sales who will be accountable for the overall development of the go-to-market strategy on a global basis, targeting year on year growth in line with the long-term strategic direction of the company. In conjunction with the CEO, this individual will be responsible for the setting and flow down of annual global order intake and revenue targets. Head Office is in Vancouver, but the company is also open to candidates working remotely from BC or other Canadian Provinces. The position requires national and international travel.


  • Responsible for the sales revenue targets, order intake and strategic direction of global sales
  • Identify, cultivate, win, and grow business in Earth Observation and related application domains
  • Within the allocated budget, build and manage a sales team, delivering regular feedback and performance reviews, fostering a strong team ethos
  • Lead the company’s full range of Business Development and sales activities related to company’s data, value-added information products/applications and services, including developing regional sales plans and key accounts
  • Maximize the yield of existing accounts, identify valuable emerging markets and monitor competitive activity to successfully secure and sustain large-scale commercial and government contracts
  • Develop and own the global sales and marketing plan, to include global trends, competition, marketing ‘plan on a page’, events, sales forecasts and 3-5-year plan
  • Develop a network of distributors, and trusted partners in areas deemed better served by third parties
  • Ensure mandatory use of CRM within the team for all customer/reseller/partner meeting interfaces, updating the sales pipeline regularly resulting in a ‘regional dashboard’. Develop metrics to accurately demonstrate progress towards order intake goals.
  • Ensure the overall delivery and quality of the Data Services offering to customers
  • Responsible for gathering customer needs, working with customers to understand their workflows feeding back to the Product Manager, sales, marketing, and senior management team
  • Carefully balance the company’s needs to win new business whilst managing risk
  • Deliver global report updates on sales performance and marketing activities
  • Develop and own strategic accounts
  • Coordinate global selling efforts, bids, RFI/RFP responses
  • Manage reseller channel, partners and key strategic relationships.


  • University degree or equivalent in Technical Areas (Remote Sensing, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautic, Physics, Geology, Geography etc.)
  • MBA or equivalent will be considered an asset
  • 10+ years’ technical sales experience, with proven results in multiple customer-facing roles
  • 5+ years’ progressive experience in sales leadership roles
  • Sales experience in earth observation, remote sensing, GIS technologies or similar
  • Experience developing a go to market strategy in high growth tech company
  • Target driven with strong interpersonal skills including team management, coupled with a strong business focus and aptitude to cope with the pressure of a target driven environment
  • Ability to lead and influence at senior levels, with a high level of negotiation skills
  • Highly customer oriented with initiative and willingness to learn, as well as good decision-making and time management skills
  • Advanced planning and management knowledge plus excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Secondary language skills an asset
