Our client produces products that are used by food, feed, and pharmaceutical companies.  They are a well-established company with a worldwide presence for over 30 years.  They are looking for a key person to take care of payroll and support the Managing Director with a wide range of HR Projects.  Person will also back-up the AP person.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who has payroll experience and HR courses to support the development of the HR services.  Researching benefits, creating, and updating the company handbook, salary surveys, update policies, update employment agreements and other projects.

Potential to be a four day a week position.



  • Hiring (managing job postings, assist Department Managers in the interview process preparing employment offers, assembling orientation packages)
  • Benefits administration (employee enrolment, reconciling monthly billing, addressing inquiries regarding the benefits plan and review of the plans as may be required)
  • Wide range of HR projects to develop department – updating employee handbook, salary surveys, update policies, update agreements, support with planning.
  • Processing bi-weekly payroll (data entry) and related reports.
  • Maintaining employee and payroll files
  • Liaising with WorkSafe BC and reporting incidents and payroll
  • Assist managers in preparing warning letters, performance improvement plan, termination documents
  • Assist the director of finance preparing HR budget and variance analysis
  • Assist with Performance Reviews


  • Maintain, order supplies (Coffee, Stationery, order & restock supply room and restrooms)
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail/couriers
  • Maintain and update telephone system
  • Maintain corporate filings and records
  • Social Commitee/Corporate event planning


  • Vacation backup for Accounts Payable.
  • Other general tasks and projects that may be assigned by the Director of Finance.


  • Full cycle Payroll experience
  • Payworks experience is a plus
  • Education in HR and Payroll
  • Familiar with best practices for HR in BC
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and busy schedule
  • Willing and able to back up and support others in the office
  • Good judgement
  • Maturity and understand confidentiality.
