Our client is adding a full-time HR Manager to their company due to growth. Reporting to the GM you will have full oversight of the HR department. Looking for someone who can add strategic value to this role. This company is very people-focused and has a high retention rate. Responsibilities:

  • Create and take action toward HR initiatives and strategies that are in line with the overall business plan
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain high-performing employees; oversee the recruitment, interview, selection, and hiring processes
  • Facilitate onboarding and terminations (including exit interviews)
  • Assist managers with the performance review process
  • Develop strategic compensation plans; align performance management systems with the compensation structure
  • Plan and administer employee benefits; monitor usage/cost and recommend enhancements or changes
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management
  • Conduct thorough investigations and recommend appropriate actions
  • Develop and implement reward and recognition initiatives to increase employee engagement
  • Manage succession planning; select and develop key talent for critical roles
  • Work with senior management to develop new roles; create job descriptions and determine the remuneration
  • Review and monitor workplace policies and practices to ensure that employees are provided a safe working environment, free from discrimination and harassment
  • Prepare, update and recommend HR policies and procedures
  • Resource and recommend courses to support employee development
  • Promote the company as an employer of choice through joint initiatives with Marketing (Corporate Branding)
  • Work in collaboration with the social committee to facilitate positive employee relations and increase employee engagement
  • Coordinate training (including Workplace Bullying & Harassment, forklift, first aid)
  • Deal with staffing issues; mediate disputes, provide guidance to managers on disciplinary issues
  • Troubleshoot issues and make recommendations for changes to Dayforce; provide payroll backup services
  • Ensure practices are compliant with legislation/regulations
  • Work with internal stakeholders to improve current processes and increase efficiencies
  • Maintain departmental KPIs
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in HR Management
  • Ability to deal with sensitive or difficult situations and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of Employment Standards, Human Rights and WorkSafe BC regulations
  • Friendly and approachable; ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of staff
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient with computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Servant leadership skills; ability to roll up sleeves and do what’s needed to complete the task at hand
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Works with a sense of urgency, is well organized, and capable of meeting deadlines
