Our client is a conservation organization focused on hydrology and civil engineering. We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join their team. This individual will be extremely knowledgeable in hydrology, including dam/dike construction and restoration, as well as hydrological assessments and managing water construction projects from concept to delivery. Ideally, we are looking to find someone who is living in Kamloops, or willing to relocate to the area.
However, for the right candidate, we are willing to consider other locations around the Province of BC. There is also a mentorship and management component to the position, managing a team of EITs and Engineering Technologists. The successful incumbent will be a Civil Engineer with P.Eng. designation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise, technical knowledge, and overall leadership to the team from a civil engineering and hydrology perspective
- Design and manage construction activities for multiple projects at the same time
- Complete hydrological assessments, project design and construction budgets for dam/dike construction and restoration projects
- Project manage hydrological construction activities, from design to completion
- Navigate the permitting processes for projects
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and reports
- Mentor and manage EITs and engineering technologists
- Champion a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship
- Manage restoration projects across BC
Qualifications:
- Civil Engineer with P.Eng. designation
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience managing hydrological projects (such as dam/dyke construction or restoration)
- Strong project management capabilities
- Subject matter expert on best practices in civil engineering and hydrology
- Familiarity with the regulatory and permitting processes for water management practices in BC
- Business acumen
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to establish rapport with diverse groups – including staff members, different levels of government, industry/clients, and First Nations
- Experience managing a team is an asset but not required
