Our client is a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals. We are looking for a Logistics Manager to join their team. This person is responsible for providing efficient and cost-effective logistics management for all movement and storage of goods while remaining EHS and legally compliant.
We are looking for local candidates or candidates to relocate to Prince George. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Responsibilities:
· Management and strategic development of distribution network for sites in Canada and USA with a focus on efficiency, safety, environmental protection, and quality
· Distribution cost management and optimization of logistics solutions
· Logistics Project Management and Capital Planning
· Regional customer satisfaction (OTIF, lead-time, complaints handling, other logistics KPIs)
· Compliance with global trade guidelines
· Logistics planning; short and long-term planning of transport- and storage capacities including external logistics warehouses and tollers
· Safe and environmentally sound operation of distribution facilities
· Continuous supervision of logistics operations on sites, including customer site audits and training
· Ensure logistics cost controlling and deviation assessment
· Ensure legal compliance for handling of dangerous goods (DOT, IMDG, WHMIS)
· Budget responsibilities for fixed and variable costs
· Determining rates and routes for truck and rail, including third party.
· Review, approve and coding of incoming invoices
· Setting up all distribution related Purchase Orders
· Provide continuous optimization of logistical processes and root-cause examinations for improvements in on-time deliveries and cost efficiency
· Management of transport equipment, tankers, trailers/reefers, and returnable packaging
· Management of bulk container, IBC and canister cleaning activity
· Management of logistic service contractors (selection, contracting …)
· Distribution staff planning and succession planning
· Complete oversight of transportation management system including implementation activities, daily operations, optimization, and maintenance (rail, truck and trailer fleet)
· Expected to learn basic business process flows including forecast to fulfillment, order to invoice and understand products sold for distribution purposes
· Responsible for ERAP maintenance and renewal
· Responsible for intercompany assistance as assigned regarding import and export
· Support ISO 9001, 14001, and Responsible Care Programs
Qualifications:
· Bachelor´s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related degree
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial logistic environment
· TMS experience required (specifically in implementation and management)
· ASCM, CPIM certification a plus
· Hazmat experience preferred
· Import/ Export Experience preferred
· Project management preferred
· ERP-Systems (SAP) preferred
· National Motor Freight Classification familiarity
· Negotiation skills
· Interpersonal and leadership qualities
· Must be able to communicate across multiple levels of management and with staff drivers and operators
· Computer applications and MS Office
· Truck and Rail Specific legal regulations & standards
