Our client is a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals. We are looking for Maintenance Manager to join their team, reporting to the Plant Manager. This individual will lead a highly autonomous and skilled maintenance team. This is a hands-on managerial position, solving key operational and maintenance challenges. We are open to looking at candidates to re-locate to Prince George for this position and relocation assistance will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and direct the Maintenance Team in a proactive manner by fostering both individual employee contributions, development, and cooperative teamwork, motivating toward total quality performance and exercising effective communication
  • Provide overall direction through effective interfacing of maintenance resources with technical and operating teams
  • Provide technical expertise and practical guidance in support of site initiatives to maintain site assets and implement improvement projects for safety, cost, reliability, and productivity
  • Utilize site employee development processes to provide effective feedback for improvement of team members
  • Manage and lead projects and the resources required to maintain or enhance plant equipment and facilities
  • Achieve or exceed specified levels of production with a small multi-skilled Maintenance Team by ensuring complete integration with other site teams
  • Ensure the efficient management and control of the stores spare parts inventory such that optimal parts and supplies inventory is maintained within plant budget targets
  • Provide overall direction and management of the Mechanical Integrity program with continuous improvement of the plant preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Monitor and ensure completion of facility inspections
  • Act as a liaison with inspection and insurance agencies in terms of annual equipment inspections, insurance related inspections, provincial/federal mandated inspections, and regulated inspections
  • Manage the resources required to ensure that all project and capital work completed in the plant have been critically reviewed for safety and environmental considerations to ensure that the new equipment improves or maintains the overall safety and health of the plant
  • Ensure shutdown work schedules and project schedules are met and on budget
  • Participate in preparation of the annual plant budget and monthly spending forecasts by preparation of budget estimates for Maintenance areas which serve as the Maintenance plan to achieve desired productivity and cost control objectives
  • Ensure that maintenance and engineering work is cost effective and efficient through preparation of budgets, pricing/purchasing materials, and scheduling of maintenance with the Production Team aimed at minimizing production loss due to downtime
  • Initiate and implement improvement projects for cost reduction and increased process efficiency
  • Maintain facility equipment records, safety inspection records, and equipment history files
  • Ensure document control within the Maintenance Team
  • Focus on continuous improvement of the maintenance systems
  • Maintain regulated work processes and permits to operate
  • Ensure that the Maintenance Team provides appropriate services, parts, and technical assistance to all internal/external customers
  • Participate in scheduled audits for ISO

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman (Red Seal) or BSc. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience as a maintenance manager, established maintenance team member, or front-line supervisor in a chemical manufacturing plant or a related processing facility (such as oil and gas, pulp and paper or other heavy industry)
  • Experience in heavy industrial or chemical technical applications
  • Progressive supervisory experience in line or staff management
  • Experience in managing/leading in a team environment is a major asset
  • Proven track record in leading improvements in safety and reliability performance
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance systems, preventative maintenance, and core reliability maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, process control/PLC/DCS systems is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with other departments within the plant as well as outside technical resources
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to multi-task and yield results
  • Comfortable making group presentations
  • Knowledge of key electrical and mechanical preventative maintenance practices
