Our client is an exciting green company involved in manufacturing and construction. The Manager of Corporate Reporting with report to the VP Finance and will oversee three staff – AP and two Analysts.
This role will be responsible for leading the corporate reporting in a fast-paced and evolving business. You will ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis by managing the activities of the reporting team, implementing best practices, and adjusting priorities on the fly. Your detailed knowledge of IFRS and keen eye for detail are critical.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of the consolidation and supporting working papers, accounting memorandums, and other required procedures.
- Manage monthly financial reporting including supervising team members and implementing best practices in the reporting process.
- Research new IFRS accounting pronouncements, including accounting policy development.
- Manage, implement, and/or monitor accounting systems, policies and procedures, and internal controls environment and documentation for the Company.
- Coordinate with the Company’s external auditors, tax advisors and various other service providers, and respond to CRA inquiries and audits.
- Guide and mentor junior team members.
- Projects & Other
- Support in automation projects, such as the implementation of the budgeting and forecasting tool and improvements in the ERP
- Assist with financial due diligence, research, or analyses on potential acquisitions and dispositions as and when required.
- All other duties as requested from time to time by the Controller and VP Finance.
Qualifications:
- University degree, an accounting designation (CPA), and big 4 experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, with some experience leading a team.
- Prior experience working in a publicly listed company and strong background in Canadian or SEC corporate reporting is required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
- Experience using Microsoft D365 and Workiva is an asset.
- Experience in Floqast, Concur, ADP payroll, Corporate Taxprep, and online banking platforms will be considered an advantage.
- Team player with a service-delivery focus, good business acumen, ability to adapt to change and shifting priorities in a fast-growing entrepreneurial company.
