Our client is a mid-sized ingredient manufacturer, part of a larger and successful Group of Companies offering a wide range of products to the food, feed and pharma sectors. They are currently in need of a Plant Operations Manager who will be responsible for the entire operations department, including Maintenance, Production and Warehouse, to ensure that products meet all the required specifications, following all the GMP guidelines. The position will be based in Abbotsford, BC.

Responsibilities:

· Ensuring the quality and safety of all manufactured products

· Overseeing the operational budgeting

· Planning, directing, and coordinating all manufacturing operations

· Establishing manufacturing and quality control standards

· Developing budget controls and plans

· Evaluating production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, equipment and manpower requirements

· Developing priorities based on production, equipment efficiencies and materials

· Creating schedules, plans and staffing requirements

· Planning and administering procedures, production processes and quality control standards

· Ensuring production meets scheduled requirements – checking production activity and ensuring production requirements are met

· Developing strategies and initiatives to improve profitability and efficiency

· Providing leadership and support to the operations department – Maintenance, Production and Warehouse

· Leading continuous improvement initiatives through the company and developing process improvement strategies

· Ensuring that products are manufactured to meet their required specifications

· Overseeing maintenance of production equipment

· Responsible for regulatory compliance, Health & Safety policies and ensuring current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) are maintained

· Responsible for SOP revisions and writing, GMP investigations, deviations, change control

· Responsible for WorkSafe audits and compliance with regulations

· Evaluating and implementing plans to develop and improve the skills, knowledge and abilities of the supervisors and process operators

Qualifications:

· 10 years+ experience in an active pharmaceutical ingredient, food or beverage manufacturing company

· Experience in effectively managing and leading people

· Bachelor’s degree and/or other demonstrated and related equivalent experience

· Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Dynamics NAV

· Self-starter, motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible

· Excellent planning and organization skills

· Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work effectively with all departments, fundamentally with Operations

· A positive attitude, strong initiative and innovative

· Ability to manage and motivate a team, develop, and coach managers

· Good manufacturing practices (GMP)

· Workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS)

· In depth knowledge and understanding of production processes, procedures and SOPs

· Follow procedures and standards determined

· Strong and effective communication

· Ability to work in a team and independently

· Participate in team meetings
