Our client is a well-established, private manufacturer of branded consumer products sold across North America and globally. They own more than a dozen brands and sell directly to small/medium size grocery chains, key accounts (e.g. Costco, London Drugs) and FMCPG trade distribution. Their sales largest market is the United States followed by Asia, Canada and Europe.

They are currently looking for a Purchasing Manager with a strong understanding of freight forwarding, logistics and inventory management. The new hire will be responsible for keeping multiple warehouse locations in stock while assisting the product developers with sourcing new products and materials. Previous experience managing Asian suppliers will be considered a strong asset.

This is a permanent, full-time position that will be based in North Vancouver, BC.

Responsibilities:

· Implementing a re-order process including setting Min/Max levels

· Vendor and supplier relationship building

· Knowledge of creating export documents, commercial invoices

· Informing warehouse and other invested parties of new products and arrivals

· Communicating with overseas vendors and company employees

· Meets on-time delivery targets

· Understands the entire Freight Forwarding process

· Working with the accounting group to manage oversea payments

· Patient and empathetic manager with key metrics and goal setting approach

Qualifications:

· Completed post-secondary education preferred; or completed the program at the college, technical level

· 3-5 years of experience in a related or other consumer goods purchasing role, preferably with supervisory experience

· Advanced Excel skills; worked with VLOOKUP; Pivot tables, etc.

· Knowledge of Fishbowl software an asset

· Excellent communication and follow-up skills; relationship building

· Ability to manage multiple tasks daily, effective to-do list management

· Negotiation and analytical skills, financial acumen, and ability to manage multiple projects

· Flexibility, adaptability, and integrity
