Our client is a Canadian-operated furniture manufacturer with factories around Asia. They design and produce high-end living, dining and home-office furniture sold to designers and architects. They do not sell direct to consumers. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will maintain and build a sustainable, adaptable, customer-responsive company adhering to the core values of passion, teamwork, integrity, accountability, innovation.

The QA Manager will be responsible for setting up product testing protocol and ensuring it is being followed, keeping company’s standards in mind. The QA Manager will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Product and Claims departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a manual on protocol for testing
  • Define test strategies for new and existing products
  • Review and identify gaps and provide feedback on others test strategies
  • Working with overseas agents to ensure new procedures are being implemented and followed
  • Oversee the development and timely execution of test plans, monitoring and reporting on test execution and quality metrics as per release deadlines
  • Understand how all elements of the applications and systems will work together and developing QA approaches that fit the overall strategy
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand product vision, requirements and to provide support as required
  • Conduct monthly meetings with Claims department to discuss claims issues and communicate with factors to resolve issues
  • Manage cost of testing products (by factories and external testing)
  • Conduct inspection of products
  • Create protocol for cartons/packaging and conduct audits to ensure factories are complying
  • Travel overseas (after covid, once per quarter) to conduct factory visits and ensure they are following testing protocol
  • Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned by the CEO

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of QA experience in the furniture industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar
  • Core passion to coach and mentor others on testing
  • Exemplary teamwork and maintain the respect of others
  • Ability to diffuse tense situations and manage conflicts
  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ensure compliance to company policies, procedures and standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with SAP an asset
