Our client is a well-established residential design firm with an excellent reputation in their industry. Due to internal growth, they are currently looking for an Intermediate Residential Designer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified designer to focus on the creation of customized design solutions for their awesome client base in the Residential sector.

Responsibilities:

• Use your skills to develop effective technical designs and drawing specifications from preliminary concept to finalization while ensuring top notch quality.

• Show off your ethics and principals by operating in compliance with provincial / local regulations and adhering to building code specifications.

• Utilize your experience by helping out others on the team from mentoring, giving guidance and reviewing work of Junior Designers.

• Produce unique and creative design development drawings, construction drawings, contract documents, and specifications to achieve desired client results.

• Print, issue, and distribute drawings to the project team to collaborate and share successes and ensure consistency across all projects.

• Assist with daily reporting requirements, documentation control and other administrative duties.

Qualifications:

  • You have at least 3 years of post-graduate design experience working in the residential sector designing wood frame structures.
  • You are experienced in the creation of construction documents with the current version of AutoCAD.
  • You have a formal education in Architecture or Building Technology such as a degree or equivalent Diploma in Architecture or Building Technology.
  • You have working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and other CAD software.
  • You are familiar with and understand the BC Building Code (2018) as well as all other local building codes and municipal bylaws.
  • Understanding of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems as they relate to space planning.
  • Ability to read and interpret design sketches, construction documents and specifications.
  • Knowledge of basic structural systems and components.
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge is an asset.
