Our client is a global manufacturer and supplier of materials used in mining and milling applications, mainly by gold, copper, and iron producers. They supply important materials used in mineral concentration processes.  The organization has a long-standing history rooted in solid ethics and exemplary outstanding service. We are looking for a Sales Manager to join their team, building strong relationships with customers and managing a team of 6, spread across Canada. This individual will be a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the SVP Sales and Marketing, based in the USA.

Sales management experience, as well as a commitment to developing people and providing exceptional customer care is required. Some connection to the mining, logging, or milling industries is required. Ideally, candidates will have a background in engineering, and/or an understanding of metallurgy. Strong contract negotiation skills are required, and exposure to long term sales cycles. Travel between 20-25% is required.  We are open to relocating the right individual to Kamloops for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides overall leadership of account managers and sales support staff
  • Oversees day-to-day sales activities including marketing, competitive analysis, negotiation of contracts, and preparation of sales plans and forecasts
  • Plans and achieves sales at a premium to prevailing market prices
  • Formulates strategic sales plans with input
  • Ensures timely and accurate forecasting and reporting of sales
  • Trains sales team members on technical applications and contract negotiation
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork and collaboration
  • Provides strong leadership, mentoring, coaching and development of sales team members
  • Develops and communicates technical expertise of the company’s products, services, and industry applications
  • Communicates with sales team members regarding opportunities and challenges, providing feedback and suggesting solutions
  • Collects and analyzes sales data to understand customer trends
  • Fosters and develops strong relationships with customers, visiting customers when required
  • Champions the use of the CRM system to capture important sales information
  • Forecasts, tracks, and creates reports highlighting sales, KPIs and other metrics

Qualifications:

  • Significant Experience in B2B sales related to mining, logging, or milling
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a sales management/leadership position
  • A passion for developing salespeople and building strong and resilient sales teams
  • An understanding of metallurgy and mineral processing
  • An engineering degree is a major asset but not required
  • Experience with contract negotiation
  • Experience with long term sales cycles
  • High emotional intelligence, ability to adapt and work with different personalities, and put aside one’s ego for company success
  • A commitment to exceptional customer service and high ethics
  • Strong business acumen – skilled in negotiating pricing, adjustments, and contracts
