Our client is a family-owned business that has grown to have multiple offices over the last 55 years. They are in the manufacturing and wholesale of the lumber industry. Currently, they are looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join their Head Office in Chemainus. Relocation support is available. Experience with detailed preparation of working papers for accountants as part of monthly and year-end routines, have assisted in year-end file preparation and has an intermediate understanding of accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
· Will be responsible for full cycle bookkeeping, including reconciling, assisting with payroll, and preparing financial statements.
· A good understanding of the tax process (GST/PST).
· Working with the accountants on month and year-end tasks.
· A minor amount of administration work such as registration set up.
· Any ad-hoc tasks that the CFO needs support with.
Qualifications:
· Min 5 years of experience in an accounting field; with experience in public practice or an industrial industry is an asset.
· Experience with an ERP system is an asset (ex: Truckmates)
· Be highly detail oriented, and organized, and have well-developed interpersonal skills.
· Take initiative and be flexible in dealing with problems and unknown situations.
