Our client is a successful non-profit organization offering support services to those experiencing mental health issues or facing homelessness in the Greater Vancouver Area.

They are looking for a Senior Director of Operations who will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the day-to-day operations of the organization while ensuring the effective delivery of housing and support services to individuals and communities in need.

This role offers the opportunity to work remotely or on a hybrid model.

Responsibilities:

Operational Strategy:

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to create policies that support the company’s vision.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a dedicated team of operational staff, fostering a culture of compassion, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Promote professional development and team-building initiatives.

Program Implementation:

  • Assist the Director of Programs with the implementation and monitoring of housing and support programs, ensuring they align with the needs of the community and the organization’s goals.

Human Resources Management:

  • Assist the HR team with hiring, firing, training and overall HR management activities.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and enforce quality standards for all the company’s services and activities.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

Resource Management:

  • Oversee resource allocation, including budgeting and fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to monitor and control operational expenses.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders, government agencies, and partner organizations.
  • Represent company at community events and forums.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks to operations and implement strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate regular reports on operational performance, financial health, and program outcomes.
  • Utilize data analysis to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA are a plus.
  • Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within the non-profit sector (preferably in housing or social services).
  • Understanding of social issues related to housing insecurity and homelessness is a plus.
  • Previous exposure to a unionized environment a strong asset.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to the values and mission of our client’s organization.
