Our client is an established and reputable manufacturer and distributor of chemicals for the paint and coating industry. They are based in Mississauga, ON and are currently in need of a Warehouse and Logistics Manager who will look after a team of six while being responsible for optimizing processes, managing inventory, flow, efficiency, and accuracy. She/He will ensure that all incoming and outgoing orders are scheduled as per standard company procedures in a timely manner and with clear and respectful communication between departments, clients, and vendors. This is a key role for the operations and future growth of our client’s business and offers significant room for career advancement.

The ideal candidate will have experience in both logistics and warehouse management and will preferably come from the paint and coating sector. Other industries such as food, pharma, cosmetics or similar will be considered as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the efficient and cost-effective operation of the warehouse and manage the relationship with third-party logistics, warehouses, & company’s subsidiaries and logistics
  • Be the internal expert for logistical regulatory requirements CBSA, CETA, tariffs, etc. Export/Import
  • Create or improve standard operating procedures for Logistics/Warehousing to support efficiency and accuracy throughout the operation
  • Provide direction and coaching daily to the Customer Service and Shipping/Receiving Teams
  • Oversee inbound and outbound scheduling, pickups and all requirements related to the receipt/release of goods, reconciliation, and claims
  • Liaise with Production Manager to ensure order timely fulfillment and safe international shipping standards
  • Responsible for budgeting, supplies, and equipment operation within the warehouse and logistics area while providing a safe and secure environment for associates and assets
  • Monitor the day-to-day activities of the warehouse operations including pick-pack-shipping, inventory control, material receiving and put away
  • Ensure inventory accuracy within the warehouse operations and oversee implementation of SWIFT inventory count
  • Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization
  • Maintain documentation and keep accurate records of warehouse activities
  • Assist with loading or unloading shipments when required
  • Plan work schedule, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
  • Build strong working relationships with hourly employees within internal warehouses to deliver defined objectives
  • Provid prompt, courteous, and respectful responses to clients and vendors, resolving any issues, and always delivering the best experience
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly making recommendations to Executive Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in a distribution/warehouse environment
  • Previous supervisory/people management experience (hired or fired staff members)
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and computer software.
  • Proficient knowledge in handling materials and inventory control
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be on your feet and conduct physical/manual labor
  • Strong Attention to detail
  • Lift truck trained/experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels within the organization
  • Strong process-oriented skills
