Overview:
Our client is responsible for developing and managing healing and wellness programs, incorporating a holistic approach to healthcare rooted in traditions, land-based healing, and culture. Reporting to the Wellness Board, this role involves collaboration with First Nations communities, Elders, Traditional Knowledge Holders, healthcare professionals, and various government bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
Needs Assessment:
Gather information about healthcare needs through communication with Elders, Traditional Knowledge Holders, and Health Directors.
Program Design and Delivery:
Design and deliver healthcare services, ensuring regular communication with Health Directors and relevant healthcare authorities.
Contract and Budget Oversight:
Oversee contracts and budgets, ensuring compliance with deliverables and budget allotments.
Advocacy and Policy:
Advocate for maximum funding to meet indigenous members’ health needs, collaborating with policymakers and agencies.
Representation at Strategic Meetings:
Represent the First Nation tribal government health interests, gather data, develop briefing notes, chair meetings, and track key issues to maximize funding and policy decisions.
Communication:
Develop and implement a communication strategy, coordinate events, and ensure ongoing communication on healthcare in First Nation tribal government in communities.
Financial Responsibility:
This position holds day-to-day budget responsibility for the First Nation tribal government in Healing and Wellness Centre budget.
Direct Supervision:
Oversee and supervise healing and wellness program facilitators, First Nation tribal government in Health and Wellness Centre employees, students/volunteers.
Preferred Requirements:
- Driver’s license and Vulnerable Records Check.
- Minimum 3 years of healthcare management experience.
- Minimum 3 years managing staff and budgets.
- Experience in high-profile project management.
- Familiarity with First Nations, public speaking, and chairing meetings.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems, best practices, land-based healing, First Nation tribal government traditions, and culture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Understanding of Aboriginal issues in BC.
- Advanced conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication, contract management, financial management, and supervisory skills.
- Understanding of project management and discretion with politically sensitive issues.
- Ability to respond effectively to public issues.
- Proficiency in using technological tools for organizing and presenting information.
Working Conditions:
