HVAC Estimator

Our client is a leading multi-trade provider of value-added, semi-custom HVAC systems for commercial applications. They are adding an HVAC Estimator to their Coquitlam, BC office (in-office role) who will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating the cost of various construction projects.

This is a full-time, permanent role that offers growth and career advancement opportunities within a well-established organization.

Responsibilities:

• Look for relevant public tenders for the company.
• Participate in site visits and information sessions.
• Ensure the progress of work and provide reports to clients as needed.
• Gather and review all important information available for each of the projects (plans and specifications, existing site conditions, access and complexity site, work schedule, work phasing, etc.)
• Establish a precise scope of work specific to each of the projects.
• Proceed with the analysis of plans and specifications and the statement of quantities.
• Plan the work with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maintain good relationships with suppliers, customers, engineers, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Know your competition and their trends. Stay on the lookout for fluctuations in the market in order to be competitive and win contracts.
• Write detailed quotes, at lump sum prices or unit prices, for the general contractors and/or clients.
• Manage time effectively to meet various deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in refrigeration/HVAC estimating or any related field.
• Ability to read construction plans.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of BC building codes and standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
