Our client tells the most complete story about the condition of a pipeline, using a combination of process, technology, and people to empower operators with the information possible to make effective and efficient decisions.  They seek to improve every pipeline they interact with, ensuring environmental stewardship of the global energy infrastructure.  They accomplish this through the development and commercialization of the latest, most technologically advanced in-line inspection techniques.  They are looking for a PAUT Engineer to join their team, ideally in Vaughn, Ontario.  This role is a key member of the team, as the developer and technical/commercial support for products in the PAUT product line. The position is 100% dedicated to developing, building, and sustaining new PAUT commercial product line.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct tests with appropriate NDT technique: Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing.
  • Assist with data acquisition and interpretation of ultrasonic inspection results.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document results.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Obtain and analyze information skillfully.
  • Initiate the development of and keep abreast of technologies relative to PAUT products to facilitate the cost-effective development of new products for internal operational use, external equipment sales and the design of products for current customer delivery.
  • Take the initiative to offer or try a new approach to make the team and the company more successful.
  • Keeps the Vice President apprised of engineering progress, trends, opportunities, and problems contributing to the planning and goal setting activities.
  • Assist with the design & qualification of defect standards.
  • Assist with PAUT cost estimates for the programs.
  • Assist with training & certification of personnel.
  • Assist with instrument & system calibrations, support internal and external audits.
  • Adapt and perform consistently under changing requirements and dynamic work situations.
  • Work with team members to ensure team, department, and divisional goals are met.
  • Collaborate and share with other team members to promote knowledge transfer.
  • Write technique sheets, procedures, and reports, as required.
  • Edit and present numerical data effectively.
  • Assures the timely development of PAUT products and new technologies as well as the design modification of existing products, contributing to effectively anticipating and meeting customer requirements for products which have economically meaningful increases in value, technology, performance, durability, maintainability, and flexibility.
  • Assist the Engineering, and other Departmental staff to develop, recommend, implement, and monitor annual and strategic engineering plans and budgets which support the sound, orderly, and profitable growth and return on investment of the Division.

Qualifications:

  • PhD Preferred or a Minimum of a master’s degree with extensive experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics or other technical disciplines from an accredited university is a requirement or related years’ experience. An advanced degree in Business would be beneficial but not required.
  • In-depth knowledge/experience of EMI and Phased Array inspection technologies.
  • Minimum of 10-Years’ experience of Electrical/Electronic Engineering projects, or product team.
  • Proficient in CIVA UT simulation software
  • Proficient in MATLAB or similar mathematical analysis software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of the different needs of our engineers and scientists.
  • Ability to work both independently and in group environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure, exuding a mature demeanor while multi-tasking in a deadline-oriented environment with accuracy and consistency.
  • Proven ability to work in a fluid environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective; flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities.
  • Strong experience presenting to key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Demonstrated communication skills: both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.
  • Oilfield equipment/pipeline inspection equipment background desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Experience with phased array inspection equipment and analysis software, such as those supplied by Zetec, Olympus, Eddyfi, Sonatest, etc.
  • If living in the US, must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum – ability to legally work in Canada.
  • National certification in one or more NDE methods from the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) or other third-party international certification schemes is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in Ultrasonic Testing and Level 3 certification per NAS410 in Ultrasonic Testing is preferred but not required.
