Senior Estimator – Electrical Contracting

About the client:

Our client is a comprehensive electrical contracting company headquartered in Surrey, BC, Canada. Specializing in Commercial and Industrial projects, they offer a wide spectrum of installation, servicing, and maintenance solutions. Since 1993, they have been delivering exceptional electrical services and installations to the Greater Vancouver area.

Responsibilities:

• Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project requirements thoroughly.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and create precise cost estimates for electrical projects, covering materials, labor, and equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to establish project budgets and timelines.
• Identify potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures during the estimation process.
• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and schedules.
• Participate in bid meetings and negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
• Maintain an updated database of material, equipment, and labor pricing.
• Stay informed about industry trends, code changes, regulations, and pricing fluctuations.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to junior estimators when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of electrical systems, codes, and industry best practices.
• Display proficiency in using estimating software and related tools.
• Exhibit excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• Show meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
• Possess strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
