Case Study: Remcan

Remcan, a full service national railway contractor, was in need of a Controller who was confident, reliable and skilled. With over 20 years of experience recruiting for accounting and finance roles, Karen Epp was well-equipped to take on this assignment and find the missing piece for the client.

Dramatic market changes recently have led to a candidate-centric market where hiring practices have been forced to evolve. This client had to balance their heavy workloads and travel with the added task of processing candidates. Karen made a point of checking in with candidates frequently to ensure they were up to date with the status of the search and keep them intrigued. She forwarded nine resumes to the client, but one candidate in particular stood out. This individual was genuinely interested in the role and the construction industry at large, despite not having any prior experience in the sector. She was ultimately hired as she possessed the right experience and fit in well with the team. Although this was a slow-moving search spanning 4 months, Karen is experienced in maintaining candidate relationships and was able to place a suitable candidate in the role.
